LESSON 5 THE VERB IR

VERB IR (to go)

*You will often see the questions "dónde?"   "cómo?" and "cuándo?" used with the verb ir. You'll notice that    while ir is irregular and has it own conjugation, its verb endings are very similar to those of ser and estar(lesson 1), wich should make it easier to memorize.

-Present tense

      yo voy.....................i go                             dónde?....where?
      tu vas......................you go                         cómo......how?
      el va........................he goes                        cuándo...when?
      ella va.....................she goes
      nosotros vamos.......we go
      vosotros vais..........you go
      ellos van.................they go

cúando vas al cine?      (when do you go to the cinema?)
voy a comprar             (i'm going to buy)
cómo vas a Canadá?   (how are you going to Canadá?)

as you can see when talking about the place and we are asking with "cuándo?" we use verb ir more "a"
as you can see when we are asking with "cómo?" we use the ver ir more "en"

ex:  - cómo vas a canadá?   (how are you going to canadá?)
      - voy a canadá en tren   (i'm going to camnadá by train)

      - cuándo vas a canadá?  (when are you going to canadá?)
-voy a canadá el lunes    (i'm going to canadá on monday)

    2. look: dónde VA a tener lugar LA competición? why? remember competición=he/she so el va/ la competición va! and because competición is female you must use the article La.
